Woman found after abduction in car robbery in the Battlefords

A 33-year-old woman who went missing after an armed carjacking in North Battleford on Friday morning was found safe later in the day.

Around 5 a.m., Battlefords RCMP were alerted to the robbery on Railway Avenue East.
Immediate responders learned a man armed with a gun approached a red Pontiac Grand Prix, threatened the two women inside and stole the car, RCMP said in a news release.

One of the women was able to get out of the car without physical injury, but officers were unable to locate the other woman and believed she remained inside the car, the release said.
The car, a red 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix with Saskatchewan licence plate 186 NSA, was recovered on St. Laurent Drive in North Battleford around 10:30 a.m., police said in an updated release.
The suspect and victim weren’t with the car and officers continued patrolling the area.
Around 1:25 p.m., they found the victim safe in a home on St. Laurent Drive. The suspect has not been located and officers continue to investigate.
The suspect is described as a man with a round-shaped face. He was seen wearing a baggy red sweater and jeans.
