The fall of Assad has resulted in a flurry of military activity on Syria’s borders as Israel and Turkey try to take advantage of the changing situation.

America also launched strikes against ISIS targets in central Syria.

Sir Keir Starmer, on a tour of the Gulf, said Assad’s departure was an opportunity for the country, but has warned that the fall of other brutal regimes in the past had resulted in violence not peace.
