Roughriders re-sign linebacker Jameer Thurman for two years

Middle linebacker Jameer Thurman has agreed to a two-year extension with the Green and White. The 29-year-old was slated to become a free agent on Feb. 11.
Last season with the Roughriders, Thurman was named a West Division all-star for the first time in his career after recording 76 defensive tackles, three tackles for loss, two special teams tackles, three fumble recoveries, two interceptions, one sack, one knockdown and one forced fumble in 17 regular season games. He added 13 tackles in two playoff games.

Prior to joining Saskatchewan on a one-year deal during free agency last year, the 6-foot-0, 230-pounder suited up for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2023 which followed four seasons with the Calgary Stampeders.
Thurman was among Saskatchewan’s highest priority pending free agents.
The Roughriders now have 22 players on expiring contracts including defensive back Marcus Sayles, centre Peter Godber, tackle Trevon Tate, safety Nelson Lokombo, receiver Mitch Picton, receiver Jerreth Sterns, returner Mario Alford and defensive linemen Micah Johnson, Bryan Cox Jr., Miles Brown and Anthony Lanier II.
